Please consider flying for free with us.  With the help of a “Buddy Box” setup.  Below’s a Wikipedia link to what that means.  There are several club members who can be at the field with a plane and two controllers.  Let an expert take off and land for you, and you can fly way up high for as long as you want.  It’s free.  You can see if this sport is of interest to you.

Our organization relies on our generous members to maintain, professional values, and quality characters lead to a good laugh from time to time.

Our airfield sits within BLM land.  A member only, locked gate keeps non members from flying.  We have a good relationship with folks who enjoy the surrounding public land.

So I don’t know much about these fancy new chargers and LiPo batteries. I bought a Thunder 20A300W charger and I’m looking into a balance board too for parallel charging . But I’m not sure on how high I should set charging amps. Anyone that can help would be appreciated .
    Thanks. Richard

Hello everyone. My name is Richard Lockey. I will be attending the meeting on this Thursday in hopes to become a member. I was curious if anyone from the Tigers bring in guests to see the airfield and even fly it. The long winter has giving me cabin fever. Hahahaaa! Please let me know. I, looking forward to meeting you all. I forgot to ask Travis how much the membership was for the Flying Tigers. See you all in a few days.

    Richard.

Hello. How do you become a member? It’s really a beautiful airfield! I live within minutes from there and many times driving up to watch people fly. Please email me with information to become a member. Richard.

Anybody interested in building a Polaris should spend a few hours…or months reading the rcgroups forum on the Polaris Build Thread. It is one of the longest threads I have ever seen and I don’t think I have read the entire thread but there is every bit of information you need to get you familiar with the build process and supplies normally used for building. I use dollar store foam which is a little thinner, lighter and a bit more flexible than the foam sold in the ModelAero kits. The ModelAero kits are the original kit for the Polaris after the plans were introduced and if you are not as tight on money as I am and think your time is worth more to you, then by all means, it is a good kit and I would not like to sway your away from it, however if you are short on cash and like to spend your extra time fiddling about, you are welcome to get started on a Polaris with Dave and myself as soon as we get something figured out.

The forum on the rcgroups website is : http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=922465 but I warn you it is nearly 1700 pages long and will suck you in and not let you go.

Polaris Build Night coming soon. Much help from John.

Attached is all you would need for electronics minus your receiver for the whole build. It is all from the US warehouse so if a person wanted to order the electronics prior the build, it would arrive in less than 6 days. A better speed control could be substituted but would add a few more dollars. Switching BECs are better than Linear BECs but cost a little more. This list is good for 90% size Polaris but would work for 100% with a change of motor. I think if built light this motor could be used on the 100% scale model also. I did forget to put the carbonfiber rod on the list but I think it is only a couple bucks more or could be purchased locally. Also here’s a link to the Polaris website and their expensive kits.

Food for thought: Looking at the model areo page, it was a lot better deal than now. Just the Polaris without electronics is 65.00. That means there selling the foam and carbon fiber for 65.00. Those two things you can purchase for under 10.00 if you buy expensive carbon fiber, but theirs are cut out already.

Soon we (John K, and Dave W) hope to host a Polaris build night. Thanks for reading
